In the too-harshly titled Why the Right Hates Public Education, Barbara Miner posits the real reason why Republicans are behind school vouchers: “Occasionally, Republican strategists let the cat out of the bag and admit that vouchers–which divert public dollars to private schools–are about politics, not education.”
This article is a very interesting read. The article is on The Progressive, which has its own biases. Those biases match mine, so it’s not a big deal for me, but it might be for you.
I am currently making my way through another excellent short story by Cory Doctorow. “A Place So Foreign” was first published in the January 2000 edition of Science Fiction Age magazine. I started reading this story at lunchtime, and was immediately hooked. I figured it’s so good, I have to share!
Okay, I went and did it again. I’ve made a couple of massive changes to my weblog. What can I say? I’m a very indecisive person.
Anyway, I’ve given up on the Mile High Blog concept. I’ll still keep posting news tidbits from around the Denver area here, but I don’t want to keep this blog dedicated strictly to that. So I am re-dedicating this blog to my interests. I’ll post things that I find interesting here, be the news items, cool links, political discussions, etc. As far as I am concerned, everything is fair game.
Thanks for reading this blog over the last few years! If you have any feedback, please let me know at: comments@biffster.org.
